Technology in the Classroom
Although I do not current teach anywhere, I have seen how technology in the classroom has evolved. I remember my first experience using a computer was in fifth grade, we had one computer in the classroom and we were allowed to play games on it. It evolved from having one computer to having a computer lab when I went to middle school, and then in high school we had computers that could go on the internet, AOL if anyone remembers them. J In high school I can remember taking a typing class on a computer and learning how to use save information on a floppy disk. Fast forward to today and the technology has evolved to having online classrooms and using the internet to research a paper, instead of going to a public library first.
I am excited by all the advances we have made over the years. As a future educator it is important to me to use technology to assist me in teaching lessons, creating class projects, and have my students explore the endless possibilities in online research. I want to have my students post their thoughts, struggles, and benefits of assignments on to a classroom blog. Because I want to teach online, I want to make sure my students feel as though they are part of a classroom, like they would in a F2F class.
If anyone has any advice on cool, software products, or websites to visit to help me use technology in a virtual classroom please let me know. I want to teach social studies, 5-12 grades.
